Steven Gooden, Chief Executive Officer
Steven Gooden is the Chief Executive Officer of NCB Capital Markets Limited, which under his leadership has expanded into the southern and eastern Caribbean via the establishment of hubs in the Cayman Islands, Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados. His strategic focus is to drive product penetration throughout the Group and to expand the company’s reach across the region.
Mr. Gooden’s ascension to executive management was at 26 years old when he was appointed General Manager for one of Jamaica’s leading fund management companies. In 2009, he rejoined NCB Capital Markets as Vice President, Investments and Trading where he successfully integrated the investment management functions of the Group’s subsidiaries with combined assets exceeding US$2 billion.
Mr. Gooden is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, has a Master’s Degree in Finance and Economics, a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Accounting, and has received many accolades in the areas of research and portfolio management. He has also participated in executive development courses at Chicago Booth and Wharton Business Schools covering Strategy, Change Leadership and Mergers & Acquisitions.
Steven Gooden sits on the Board of Directors of several companies within the NCB Group, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Limited and the Caribbean Mezzanine Fund. Additionally, he is the Chairman of NCB Global Finance (T&T) Ltd, NCB Capital Markets (Barbados) Limited and Elite Diagnostics Limited, as well as President of the Jamaica Securities Dealers Association.
Tracy-Ann Spence, Chief Operating Officer
Tracy-Ann Spence is the Chief Operating Officer at NCB Capital Markets Limited, which is the Wealth Management, Asset Management and Investment Banking arm of the NCB Financial Group; Jamaica’s largest and most profitable financial institution. As the Chief Operating Officer at NCB Capital Markets, she has responsibility for the Jamaican operations and has strategic oversight of the Wealth Management and Investments & Trading functions.
She has been employed to the NCB Financial Group for over 16 years and counts a BSc in Applied Mathematics from York University in Toronto, an MBA in Banking and Finance (with distinction) from the University of the West Indies and Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification from the Project Management Institute among her educational achievements. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Business Administration from the Mona School of Business and Management.
Tracy-Ann currently sits on the boards of the Jamaica Association for the Deaf, tTech Limited, Mailpac Group Limited and SiFi Studios Limited. She also represents her company in various associations such as: The Primary Dealers’ Association where she is currently the President, First Angels Jamaica, Caribbean Alternative Investment Association and the Branson Centre for the Caribbean.
Angus Young, CEO - NCB Global Finance Limited
Angus P. Young joined the NCB Financial Group (‘NCBFG’) in 2014 as Chief Executive Officer of NCB Global Finance Ltd. In 2018, Angus was also appointed Regional Head of Investment Banking at NCB Capital Markets Ltd and maintains dual roles within the NCBFG. Angus is also a Director of both NCB Global Finance Ltd and NCB Capital Markets (Barbados) Ltd. Prior to joining the NCBFG, Angus served as the Managing Director of BDO Financial Advisory Services Ltd., which represents BDO’s corporate finance and transaction advisory interest in Trinidad & Tobago.
Before joining BDO, Angus was Vice President of Business Development at First Global (Trinidad and Tobago) Ltd. where he was charged with the responsibility of Corporate Finance and Capital Market origination in T&T and Jamaica. Prior to FGTT, Angus spent four years at RBTT Merchant Bank Ltd. in leadership roles including Assistant Vice President and Regional Manager of Capital Market Origination where he covered the OECS territories and Guyana. In the past, Angus has served as a Director of the Securities Dealers Association of Trinidad and Tobago.
Angus holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Administrative and Commercial Studies (Financial and Economic Studies) from the University of Western Ontario and a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting from Wilfrid Laurier University, School of Business and Economics, Ontario.
Simona Watkis, CEO - NCB Capital Markets (Barbados) Limited
Simona is the CEO for NCB Capital Markets (Barbados) Limited, a member of the NCB Financial Group, which is headquartered in Jamaica. She is tasked with accelerating regional expansion and fostering the development of the secondary market to provide investors in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean with greater investment opportunities particularly through fixed income investments and structured finance (bond and equity financing).
Simona was appointed as CEO NCB Barbados in September 2018 and manages a team of experts in Wealth Management and Investment Banking based in Barbados. The team is tasked with designing and implementing wealth / asset management advisory services and creating structuring solutions with a strategic focus on effectively penetrating the market to increase market share and realize revenue growth targets and maximize operating capabilities.
Herbert Hall, Vice President - Investment Banking
Herbert Hall currently holds the post of Vice President of Investment Banking with NCB Capital Markets Limited (“NCBCM”) he also serves as the Head of Investment Banking for NCBCM’s Northern Caribbean hub. Herbert joined NCBCM in October 2007 as a Global Economist with the Research Team and later spearheaded the build out of the Corporate Wealth Advisory team within which he held the post of Executive Corporate Wealth Advisor. He has significant experience in investment analysis and advisory, client portfolio allocation and management as well as strategic management and planning. Prior to joining NCBCM, Herbert was the Group Economist for National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited and held the post of Monetary Economist with the Bank of Jamaica.
In his current role, he is responsible for the strategic leadership of one of the Caribbean’s most experienced and driven Investment Banking teams which has been at the forefront of structuring and arranging some of the Caribbean’s largest and most complex capital market deals including equity transactions such as (a) the historic sale of the Government of Jamaica’s majority shares in the country’s first toll road via the largest public offering, (b) the initial public offering of one of Jamaica’s leading manufacturer and distributor of food and beverage products (c) the secondary offer and cross listing of the Caribbean’s largest property fund on the Jamaica Stock Exchange. He has also led a number of large private debt transactions for both government, quasi-government and corporate clients including financial institutions.
Herbert is a thought leader and is frequently asked to shares his knowledge on various topics including (a) financing of water, wastewater and energy (b) private and public sector led infrastructure development and financing (c) regional capital markets development as well as Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (“MSME”) funding. He holds a BSc. in Economics & Management (Hons.) and a MSc. in Economics, both from the University of the West Indies as well as a MSc. in Finance from the University of Leicester. He is a past Director of the Small Business Association of Jamaica, a voting member of the University of Technology’s Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship Course Advisory Committee and a member of the Jamaica Stock Exchange’s Programme Trained Directors. Herbert also volunteers on the Jamaica Business Development Corporation’s Advisory Panel Board, which offers business advisory and coaching services to MSMEs.
Annya Walker, Vice President— Strategy, Research, Innovation and Projects
Annya Walker holds the position of Vice President— Strategy, Research, Innovation and Projects at NCB Capital Markets Limited.
Cumulatively, Ms. Walker’s experience spans sixteen years in the financial services industry, fourteen of which was spent in service to the NCB Financial Group in various leadership capacities. Prior to her employment at NCB, she worked as an Economist at the Bank of Jamaica.
Currently, her role includes, inter alia, having strategic oversight of NCB Capital Markets and its subsidiaries, the development and launch of new products, services and channels, including the company’s transition to digital service offerings, as well as research and investment strategies for clients.
Ms. Walker has spearheaded the launch of NCBCM’s suite of unit trust funds, margin and secured loan facilities, online investment and GoIPO platforms and the set up NCB Capital Markets (Barbados) Limited. She has also led the NCB Capital Markets Research team to three consecutive wins of the Jamaica Stock Exchange’s Annual Market Research Competition.
Ms. Walker holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and an M.Sc. in Economics (Distinction) from the University of the West Indies. She has also participated in executive development courses at The Wharton School and Chicago Boothe School of Business in strategy, leadership and digital marketing and analytics.
Simone Hudson, CFA, AVP Alternatives and Fund Management
Simone Hudson holds the position of Assistant Vice President- Alternatives and Fund Management. She is charged with the responsibility of expanding the company’s off balance sheet product offerings which includes its Unit Trust portfolios, Structured Products Solutions and the build out of its Alternative Investments platform.
Ms. Hudson has over 13 years’ experience in the financial services industry both in Jamaica and Canada. In her previous roles in Research and Investment Banking at NCBCM, she coached three winners of the Jamaica Stock Exchange’s Market Research competition, spearheaded the development of the company’s first Structured products offering as well as structured and arranged one of the largest infrastructure bond offer in the region.
Ms. Hudson has won several awards in the area of Research in Jamaica and placed first in the Canadian Institute of Financial Planners Case Competition in 2018.
She holds a BSc. in Economics and Statistics from the University of the West Indies, a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning from Centennial College and is a CFA Charterholder.
Stacy-Ann Tait, CFA, Vice President - Investments
Stacy-Ann Tait spearheads the development of the company’s business strategy for its proprietary investment portfolios while leading the Trading & Portfolio Management Teams. She has over 14 years’ experience in the financial services industry, which includes experience in portfolio management, risk management and corporate finance. Stacy-Ann holds a Bachelor of Science in Banking & Finance from the University of The West Indies and is a CFA Charter Holder. She also serves on the Board of Directors of CFA Society Jamaica.
Tuula Jalasjaa, Managing Director, NCB Capital Markets (Cayman) Limited
Tuula brings a wealth of knowledge to Cayman having come from a diverse and longstanding financial background of 25 years, including experience managing a number of businesses related to private wealth management and banking as well as retail, commercial and corporate banking. With a global outlook complimented by a strategic mind and sharp focus on business growth and improving financial relationships within key industries in the Caribbean, Ms. Jalasjaa welcomes her new leadership role in Cayman.
Lamar R. Harris, ESQ, Vice President of Wealth Management (Regional)
Lamar Harris, Vice President of Wealth Management (Regional) at NCB Capital Markets in Kingston Jamaica, responsible for leading the syndication and distribution of products. She has been successfully incorporating law and finance for many years as a finance specialist. Also a lawyer by profession, Lamar worked in the financial sector for over 10 years before breaking to pursue her law degree; holding a Bachelors of Art , Masters in Business and a Juris Doctorate. In her previous dispensation, for many years in the capacity of General Manager and later CEO, she proudly spearheaded a series of advancements and changes including cost control, compliance, policies, and procedures, all with the mandate of creating a company versed in financial technology. The company's revenue position was also strengthened under her watch. As a growth strategist, Lamar was responsible for pulling together a dynamic team passionate about their work. She oversaw development strategy, product development, business development and monitoring of budgetary expenditure. She was also the Investment Bank Manager who led the listings of Consolidated Bakeries Ltd.; the Jamaica Stock Exchange and Caribbean Cream Ltd on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
